Riverfront view of downtown Portland, Oregon
I began my career in the art department of a major retail store in downtown St. Louis, doing newspaper ad layouts and artwork. After moving to Portland, Oregon, my work for another retail chain involved doing
similar artwork of furniture, lamps, housewares, etc. for their newspaper ads.
Then I moved to High Point, North Carolina to work for Alderman Studios, as one of six Art Directors for major furniture manufactures in the area.
After that, I secured a job working for a large textile manufacture in Mount Airy, NC, starting out designing prints for knit shirt manufacturing, and progressed into artwork for sales aids, flyers, brochures and anything needed to promote the products. I also designed and produced quarterly and annual reports for the Company.
While in North Carolina, I did free-lance artwork for the Kimberton Company of Phoenixville, PA, designing and producing artwork for several brochures of their mens and ladies golf shirt lines.
Wanting to move back to the Pacific Northwest, I went to work for a company that did work for the National Park Service, State Parks, Forest Service, BLM and many other firms needing interpretive design work.
All through my career, I have been interested in animal & wildlife art, working in most mediums, and always leaning towards drawing and illustration. Since the mid 1990's I have been designing and rendering digital computer art of many subjects.
During my career, I have designed and illustrated several book jacket covers, along with illustrating the books, which included B/W drawings for each chapter.
